The Akademie Schloss Solitude is delighted with its current fellow Lamin Fofana, who has been nominated for Preis der Nationalgalerie 2021!
Lamin Fofana is a producer and electronic music artist. In his compositions, he contrasts the reality of our world with that which transcends it, exploring issues of movement and migration, alienation and belonging. In 2019, his sound installation Fugitive Dreams was part of the exhibition Membrane, curated by Elke aus dem Moore. The exhibition accompanied the literature festival Membrane: African Literatures and Ideas, a cooperation between Akademie Schloss Solitude and Literaturhaus Stuttgart. In 2021, Lamin Fofana returned to the Akademie as a fellow of the practice sphere »Auditory & Physical«.
Preis der Nationalgalerie honors »young, important contemporary positions« that »have already achieved influence and significance in the art world«. Eligible for the prize are international artists under the age of 40 who work in Germany. The prize is endowed with a solo show in one of the houses of the National Gallery. A publication will also be published.
