Born 1972 in Moscow.

Anton Safronov studied composition at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory with Edison Denisovand from 1991 to 1996 and at the State Academy of Music, Karlsruhe with Wolfgang Rihm from 1998 to 2003. He lives and works in Moscow as a composer, musicologist and assistant professor of music.

Festival participations include the »Eclat«-Festival in Stuttgart (2008); the Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art (2007); the ISCM World New Music Festival (2006); the Parsifal Cycle, Berlin Philhar-monic (2002); the Gaudeamus Music Week, Amsterdam (2001) and the Emerging Composers Forum (Nachwuchsforum) of the Gesellschaft für Neue Musik (GNM) with the Ensemble Modern, Frankfurt (2001).

Works published on CD: »CHRONOS … – DREAM« (»Ensemble Modern mit Werken aus dem Nachwuchsforum der GNM«, WERGO, 2001) and »…riflessioni…« (»Pythian Games 2002-2005. Aus-gewählte Mitschnitte«, Pro Arte, Firma Melody, 2006).

In 1996 he won the First Prize of the 8. International Composition Competition in Besançon/France, in 2001 the First Prize of the 1. International P. Jurgenson Composition for young composers in Moscow. In 1998 he was granted a fellowship of the Berlin Kultursenat, in 2003 a fellowship of the Hein-rich-Strobel Foundation of the SWR Freiburg, in 2004 a grant by the city of Baden-Baden, in 2005 by Künstlerhof Schreyahn, and in 2007 he was awarded the Villa Massimo fellowship in Rome.
