Chiara Bugatti is a visual artist based in Stockholm/Sweden. She holds a BA from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia/Italy and an MA from Umeå Academy of Fine Arts/Sweden (2016).

In her sculptural practice, she studies objects and tools when they become devoid of their primary function, analyzing their physical properties and historical associations, their possibilities of form and impact on their surroundings. Exposed only to mutual forces and wear and tear, these objects become a medium to explore the space they inhabit, revealing the complexity of its syntax and the vulnerability of its structure.

Chiara Bugatti was a visiting fellow within the FAIR program at the Fabrikken for Kunst og Design in Copenhagen/Denmark (2019) and, with Katarina Burin, she also received an assistant and research grant from the Swedish Arts Grants Committee at Harvard University in Cambridge/USA. In 2016, she was the artist-in-residence in the ADP Artists Residency program in Kirchberg/Luxembourg, mentored by Darren Almond and sponsored by the European Investment Bank.

Her work has been exhibited at institutions including the Borås Konstmuseum (international sculpture biennial, 2018), the Uppsala Konstmuseum (Anna-Lisa Thomson Scholarship for emerging women artists, 2016), the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm/Sweden (2016) as well as within the context of the EU project CoExistence (Fondazione Pino Pascali, Bari/Italy, Piramida, Tirana/Albania, National Art Gallery, Cetinje/Montenegro, Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Rijeka/Croatia, 2014/2015).
