Francesco Filidei studied organ and composition at the conservatory in Florence and at the Conservatoire Supérieure in Paris as well as computer music at IRCAM, Paris.

Until August 2006, he worked as an organist in the Chapelle de la Médaille Miraculeuse in Paris. His compositions were performed eg. by the Ensembles AlterEgo, Intercontemporain, Itineraire, Cairn, NEM, EOC and Klangforum.

In 2006 he was awarded for the Förderpreis des Musikpreises of the City of Salzburg. Since October 2006 he has been a fellow of the Casa de Velázquez in Madrid.
