Hector Thami Manekehla is the founder of Statement Art (2012) and has been the project manager of Nyakaza S.P.A.C.E. since 2012. As a dancer and performer he participated in the Soweto Community Dance Project (1998–2005), the Inzalo Dance & Theatre Company (2007) and the Sony & Bmg Records Brand Activation (2002).

His recent works include Penis Politics, shown at the La Bâtie festival, Geneva/Switzerland (2012), Danse l’Afrique danse festival, Johannesburg (2012), Johannesburg Arts Alive Festival (2012), Rencontres Chorégraphiques Internationales de la Seine-Saint-Denis, Paris/France (2013); S.P.A.C.E. shown at the La Bâtia festival, Geneva (2012); After Math shown at the Hector Pieterson Museum, Johannesburg (2012) and the Ithuba Art Gallery, Johannesburg (2012); All Of This For Nothing Except For Dance shown at the Johannesburg Arts Alive Festival (2011); and an untitled work at the Soweto Theatre, Johannsburg (2012).

Hector Thami Manekehla received fellowships from the Sweet and Tender Collaborations, the Association Sud Sud (Switzerland), Mia Habib Productions (Norway), Cie Gilles Jobin (Geneva), Jean-Marc Adolph, Editor-in-Chief Mouvement (Paris) and was the winner of Danse l’Afrique danse festival in 2008.

Hector Thami Manekehla is a fellow in the special program Africa in Solitude at Akademie Schloss Solitude.
