Helmut Oehring

Born 1961 in Berlin.

First he worked as construction worker, later as a composer (as a son of deaf parents!).

Grants: Working grant from the land Lower Saxony 1993/1994; Composition grant, Cité des Arts, Paris 1994; Villa Massimo, Rome 1995.

Awards: Hanns-Eisler-Preis des Deutschlandsenders-Kultur (German National Radio) 1990; Winner at International Competition of Compositions for guitar and strings, Berlin 1992; Awarded at the Forum of young composers of the West German Broadcasting Corporation (WDR), Cologne 1992; Orpheus Prize, Italy 1996; Plöner Hindemith Prize 1997; Schneider Schott Music Award 1998.

1990 as recipient of GDR-journey grant at Solitude.
