Imran Channa is an artist based in Lahore. He graduated in fine art (2004), post-graduated in visual arts (2008) and taught in the Department of Visual Arts at the National College of Arts (NCA), Lahore.

Channa’s primary interest is in historical documentation and how that documentation creates narratives, information and misinformation. He uses drawing, moving image, installation and digital technology as a means to re-examine historical documents and their influence, inviting audiences to contemplate the contradictions of how we record and understand history.

Channa’s work has been shown across the world in numerous exhibitions such as The Materiality of The Invisible #01 at Jan van Eyck Academie, Maastricht/Netherlands (2016); Vanishing Point Artport, Tel Aviv/Israel (2016); Enclosure/Erasure, solo show at Koel Gallery Karachi/Pakistan (2015); Age of Mythology, solo project at Art Basel Hong Kong (2013); The Rising Tide, Mohatta Palace Museum, Karachi (2010); The Return, 3rd International Festival of Contemporary Art at Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Algeria (2011).

He has been awarded with the Award of Excellence by Artists Association of Punjab at Alhamra Art Council, Lahore (2013) and has been part of the artistic-research residency program at the Jan van Eyck Academie, Maastricht/Netherlands.
