Born 1985 in Amsterdam/Netherlands.

Janneke van der Putten is an artist based in Rotterdam/Netherlands. She graduated with a BDes from TXT (Textile) at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam/Netherlands (2003–2009) and completed her MMus in Artistic Research, Royal Academy of Art & Royal Conservatoire, The Hague/Netherlands (2011–2013). She is trained in classical North-Indian Dhrupad singing with Amelia Cuni and Marianne Svašek, Berlin & Rotterdam (2009–2014). Janneke van der Putten is co-curator of the Aloardi Exchange Programme, inviting Peruvian artists to present their work in the Schengen Area (2016–2017).

The project Invisible Architecture with Christian Galarreta, for which they published a vinyl in 2014, has been presented at amongst other exhibitions Make the Audition: Meetings Between Art and Sound in Peru, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo, Lima/Peru (2016) and nxnwfestival, Cologne/Germany (2015). Their long-term collaboration will continue during the stay at the Akademie, where they will work on unpublished as well as new material.

Janneke van der Putten was artist-in-residence at the Centre International d’Art et du Paysage, Île de Vassivière/France (2014) and Aloardi, Lima/Peru (2015). She presented the solo exhibitions All Begins With A at TENT, Rotterdam (2015), Directed to the Sun at Quartier am Hafen, Cologne/Gernany (2017), and Quitsa at CINNNAMON, Rotterdam (2017). She received two fellowships from The Mondriaan Fund (2014–2015) and one stipend from CBK Rotterdam/Centre for Visual Arts Rotterdam (2017). Her collaborative project Electronic Textile, Voice and Space (2019–2020) is supported by the Performing Arts Fund NL and the Prins Bernhard Fund.
