Born in 1995.

Yiming Yang is an installation and new media artist based in Shanghai/China.

Her work expands the post-anthropocene perspective, combining organisms (plants, animals, humans), everyday objects and machines to explore how these symbiotic relations interact to shape human subjectivities and psychologies. Using technology to build simulacra of living entities, she seeks to invent new communication channels between machineries and organisms. In the absurdly ethereal environments she creates, audiences are invited to reflect on the relationship of virtuality to reality, of technology to religion.

Yang is currently the owner of Yimin Art Technology Co. Ltd. She holds an MA in Information Experience Design from the Royal College of Art, London/United Kingdom (2020). She has exhibited at Ws Space x Shanghart, Shanghai (2023); The 1st Annual METAVERSE Art @VENICE, online (2022); Shanghai Himalayas Museum, Shanghai (2021); Shibuya Parco, Tokyo/Japan (2021); Centre Pompidou, Paris/France (2020) and Tate Modern, London (2017).

She was a resident at Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s ICCI Art Valley Program in 2022 and The Swatch Art Peace Hotel, Shanghai in 2021.
