ON-line Exhibition

Date: May 6, 2021, 00:00 Uhr

Duration: May 6 – June 30, 2021

Location: Online Space

Design: Stegmeyer Fischer Creative Studio

Akademie Schloss Solitude has been presenting selected works from its »Web Residencies« program in an online exhibition since May 6, 2021

Public access to the projects and topics pursued by the web residents (online fellows) is facilitated through the installation of touchscreens in the Appendix, a building adjoining the Akademie’s main event hall, in order to make the diverse topics available for discovery in person. Because the exhibition is currently physically inaccessible as a result of the Corona restrictions, a banner with a large QR code has been mounted on the outside of the building, allowing visitors to access the exhibition’s digital space via their mobile devices in the Palace grounds. They can scan the QR code with their smartphones and are directed automatically to the Web Residencies’ web pages.

The content is designed for smartphone use and will feature current and future programming, as well as online content from the Akademie’s digital program.

Accessible via QR code scan or, alternatively, here:

»Intentionality, Prophecy and Ancestry«
The project »Intentionality, Prophecy and Ancestry« from the Digital Solitude program presents works from the last two calls for applications, »Muntu Maxims« and »Post-Doom«. While »Muntu Maxims« unites different fields of spirituality from cultures around the world and proposes new ways to relate to things and to each other, »Post-Doom« implores us to view doom as a beginning rather than an end.

»Zibuyile Zinkisi« von Nkhensani Mkhari
A web installation featuring a 3D-rendered Nkisi for personal and collective purification rituals. The project addresses digital space as a site for reclaiming agency, archiving and rewriting history in the global imaginary through the use of indigenous interfaces.https://webresidencies.akademie-solitude.de/on-line/#2

»A garden among the flames!« von Zahra Malkani
This audiovisual web installation explores Shiite and Sufi healing practices from Pakistan’s delta and desert regions, ancient ecologies now devastated by coal and dam infrastructures. The project addresses the collective healing power of nature, using various media to convey traditional cultural practices.
