10. Berlin Biennale | former fellows represented
From June 9 until September 9, 2018 the 10. Berlin Biennale presents itself under the heading We don’t need another hero and puts contemporary art positions, arguing with the fear of the present time, into dialogue. The title refers to the song We Don’t Need Another Hero from Tina Turner produced in 1985. Like the song, the 10. Berlin Biennale rejects the desire for a savior and the political potential of the act of self-preservation is under examination. Amongst the artists can also be found Basir Mahmood and Sinethemba Twalo – two former fellows of the Akademie Schloss Solitude.
Basir Mahmood was a fellow at Akademie Schloss Solitude in 2012 and 2013. Sinethemba Twalo hold a fellowship at the Akademie in 2014.
