Soetkin Verstegen (fellow 2018) received the Golden Zagreb Award at Animafest Zagreb 2020

Still from the animation »Freeze Frame« by Soetkin Verstegen

For her film Freeze Frame, former fellow Soetkin Verstegen (time-based media 2018) received the Golden Zagreb Award for creativity and innovative artistic achievement at the 30th Animafest Zagreb 2020. The stop-motion film alludes to the ice harvest. Identical figures perform the hopeless task of preserving blocks of ice. The repetitive moments reanimate the animals captured inside. The jury described it as »a beautiful tribute to the origins of filmmaking.«

The film was realized during several artist residencies, among them Soetkin Verstegen’s stay at Akademie Schloss Solitude.
