Solo-Exhibition »THE NIGHT THAT DREAMS — COSMOLOGIES OF SCALE« by Miriam Hillawi Abraham

Current fellow Miriam Hillawi Abraham presents her works in the solo-exhibition THE NIGHT THAT DREAMS — COSMOLOGIES OF SCALE  at RADIUS (Center for Contemporary Art and Ecology) in Delft/Netherlands.

THE NIGHT THAT DREAMS — COSMOLOGIES OF SCALE explores Sahelian cosmologies as living systems of knowledge, spanning from Mauritania and Senegal to Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Djibouti. Through research into traditions such as the Sereer, Dogon, Kel Ferwan, Zār, and Abyssinia, Miriam Hillawi Abraham traces how African worldviews encode relationships between land, sky, memory, and technology–challenging colonial borders and Western systems of classification.

The exhibition works through »scalarity«and »interscalarity«, using distortion, layering, and scale shifts to reveal connections between the smallest and largest forms of existence, as seen in Dogon cosmology. Lenses, maps, and cosmograms become tools for alternative ways of seeing and knowing, grounded in situated, embodied knowledge. Drawing on concepts like cosmotechnics, the work reframes cosmology as a technology of world-building–opening space for plural, decolonial, and speculative ways of imagining planetary futures.
