Studied art and film history at the Sorbonne in Paris and “Independent Study Program” of the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York.

1989-93 curator of the IVAM-Instituto Va-lenciano de Arte Moderno, Centre Julio Gonzalez, Valencia. 1992-93 artistic director of the 2nd Tyne International Newcastle-upon-Tyne/Arts Council of Great Britain. 1993-95 artistic director of the Carta Blanca in Madrid. 1996-99 director of the Marseille museums.

Curator of numerous exhibitions, a selection: 1985-88: “The Box Transformed” (Whitney Museum of American Art, New York); 1989-93: “Eva Hesse” (IVAM/Galerie nationale du Jeu de Paume, Paris), “Gordon Matta-Clark” (IVAM/Musées de Marseille/Serpentine Gallery, London) ; 1993-95: “Citizen X, Heart of Darkness” (Kröller-Müller Museum, Otterlo/The Netherlands) ; 1996-99: “Carl Andre (Marseille), “Gabriel Orozsco” (Marseille) ; 2000-02: “Dan Graham” (Museu Serralves, Porto/Musée d’art moderne de la ville de Paris/Musée Kröller-Müller/KIASMA). Author of numerous catalogue texts.
