Born 1980 in Filderstadt/Germany.

Demian Bern studied communication design at the Academie Beeldende Kunsten Maastricht/Netherlands from 2001 to 2002 and from 2002 to 2008 at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart. Since 2005 he has worked as a freelance graphic designer, mainly for art and culture institutions, among others for Akademie Schloss Solitude, the Staatsballett Stuttgart and the Institut Français in Magdeburg/Germany.

Demian Bern founded EXP.edition for the release of experimental forms of publication and for the support of young international artists. He is furthermore a co-founder of the Interventionsraum, an exhibition and project platform in Stuttgart.

Recent projects and exhibitions: »Re: Actors – Op de bodem neergestort«, Goethe-Institut in Rotterdam/Netherlands (2009); »EXP.edition zu Gast bei Kunsttermine«, Art Forum in Berlin/Germany, exhibition stand with the artist Pablo Wendel (2008); »EXP.01 – EXP.20«, curation, organization, conception und graphic design for the Interventionsraum Stuttgart (since 2007).

Bern received a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for a research visit in Rotterdam in 2008. In 2007, he was awarded a prize for book design and media development at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart and in 2006 together with the design studio Design Hoch 3 with an iF award.
