Born 1974 in Dublin.

Studied composition at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, and graduated from Northwestern University, Chicago, with a doctoral degree in composition. Currently lecturer at the School of Music at Northwestern University.

Her work has been performed throughout Europe, the United States and Canada. Selected works include: “been in a room and a room and a room and a room” (for twelve voices, commissioned by Crash Ensemble, 2002), “ná déan NIL CEAD” (for voice and string ensemble, commissioned by WDR, 2002), “here we are now” (for voice, cello, trombone and percussion, commissioned by SWR, 2002), “unbreakable line, hinged waist” (for flute, oboe, clarinet, percussion, piano, violin, viola and cello, commissioned by the Internationales Musikinstitut Darmstadt, 2002).

Currently composing chamber opera, commissioned by the Festspielhaus Hellerau in Dresden, for a performance in fall 2003.

Awarded the Kranichsteiner Music Prize at the International Summer Courses for New Music (Darmstadt, 2000), winner of the SCI/ASCAP Student Composition Competition (2002) and winner of the ASCAP Standard Award (2002).
