Born in 1975.

Neda Kovinic holds a PhD from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade/Serbia, University of Arts, Department of Transmedia (2020) and an MFA from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade, University of Arts, Department of Painting (2001).

Her performances, films and installations stem from creative processes sited in temporary collaborative artists’ communities. The chief elements of her work constitute participatory performances of artists engaging in different practices and experiences. She cherishes the principles of fair practice, including those of care, empathy and closeness. She works with the individuals and immediate surroundings where a group exercises and rehearses – be it a forest, old modernist architecture or a new high-rise urban landscape.

Kovinic’s exhibitions document the process of collective research in the form of an artistic installation. She often uses drawings that she creates during the process, as well as words and sentences as part of her poetic-theoretical narration and videos.

Neda Kovinic’s works have been featured in: Secondary Archive, Manifesta 14 Prishtina/Kosovo (2022); Memorial of Nadezda Petrovic, Cacak/Serbia (2022); Artist’s Film International 2021 at Whitechapel Gallery, London/UK; Hammer Museum, Los Angeles/USA and Crawford Art Gallery, Cork/Ireland; Belgrade Cultural Center, Serbia (2020); Association of Fine Artists of Serbia, Belgrade (2020) and the Student Cultural Center, Belgrade (2018) among others.
