If there is a Palermo in Stuttgart, then there is a beach in the city. This will become true for one summer Sunday afternoon through the collaborative work Sun and Sea by the Lithuanian theatre and film director Rugilė Barzdžiukaitė, writer and poet Vaiva Grainytė, and composer and performance artist Lina Lapelytė. Visitors who will enter the Palermo Gallery in Stuttgart on this afternoon in June can observe a colorful and melodic beach scene from above.

During their fellowship at the Akademie Schloss Solitude, artists have been working on a micro version of the the new opera piece Sun and Sea – the full version of the work will be premiered at Staatstheater Braunschweig in May 2017. Their previous collective performance Have a Good Day! (2013) for 10 cashiers, supermarket sounds and piano, holds the Globe Teana-Theatre Observation Award (Music Theatre NOW), two Baltic Theatre festival prizes (Latvia) and the main prize of the Fast Forward festival (Germany)
Authors are awarded with Golden Stage Cross and Young Artist Prize by the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture.
