Following the past events around the main topic »Chronicles of Work« which have been addressing the changes in modern and contemporary work organization and their consequences for society, fellows of the Akademie will rather focus on the significance of their own artistic work. During the whole afternoon and evening, performances, interventions, readings, a short play, listening exercises and musical performances will be presented on the Akademie’s premises.
The dancer and choreographer Alexandre Achour invites the public to participate and therefore puts the work with the audience at the centre of attention. Participants of the workshop will enter a face to face conversation, with the aim to exchange knowledge between each other. All conversations will become part of Alexandre Achours »collection« which is meant to explore the meaning of participation in the performing arts. Finally, Achour would also like to reflect on the artist’s choice of methods, the artistic work and the role of the artist in society.

»And I Think I Like It.« is a series of video »song-poems«. The videos include original text, sound, and animations, and come along with performances in presentation.
Human beings never experience reality directly but through symbols, discourses, and socially constructed narratives. The author and performer Saša Asentić uses this principle for his performance, focussing on live action and role-playing games through which the participants will investigate a whole range of social relationships.
»The Others«: When Life Refuses to Imitate Fiction
A conversation between a filmmaker and a scriptwriter, discovered years later on a tape recorder, evokes the story of an aborted documentary project (»The Other«). The script writer and journalist Hakim Bishara lets the hero of the film and its director at the time narrate the dramatic events behind the scenes with the aid of two fellows who will recreate the taped conversation in an informal rehearsal form.
Sivan Cohen Elias
Composer and performer Sivan Cohen Elias presents a choreography of percussive sounds for a wooden surface, hands, imaginary ball and strings.
Regardless what we listen to (from Helmut Lachenmann to Justin Bieber), the ways we listen are comparatively limited. The composer Bill Dietz will confront the participants with a performative listening exercise and try to figure out what it might mean to »compose listening« – to develop new ways of listening.
How is a an architectural design developed and what is important to the architect during the single development stages? The architect Thomas Gantner will discuss these questions, try to find out how game, intuition and atmosphere influence the architectural work and which conclusion can be drawn concerning the intent and purpose of building in general.
Selected participants will play the key role in the improvisation workshop of choreographer and performer Geuhmyung Jeong. The participants are supposed to continuously move certain objects around and reposition them on stage.
At the end of the day, Anne Kawala offers five walks for a small group each (half-male, half-female), in the surroundings of Akademie Schloss Solitude. The participants will have the opportunity to take a look at what has been worked out during the course of the day. There will be neither master nor student, the outcome will rather be established through the sharing of collective experiences.
With the classic means of painting, the artist Ndikhumbule Ngqinambi focuses on the mechanisms of power in South-African society. He positions himself through his paintings and wonders which attributes and signs are used to establish power and which oppression strategies are usually implied.
Therefore, he also reflects the power of painting and its ability to deal with political questions by using paint, brushes, canvas and paper. For the workshop, Ngqinambi will show in particular how theater, music, film and videos have influenced and supported the creation of his paintings.
»Spinoza in China«
The project »Spinoza in China« by writer Marc Perrin started with three trips to China in 1676, in 2011, and in 2012, in which the four main characters are involved: Ahmma Hana, Angela, Baruch Spinoza, and Ernesto. »Spinoza in China«’s main materials are fragments of Ernesto’s diary (editor of the project) and Baruch Spinoza’s autobiography, written in China in 1676, a year before the philosopher’s death, in a language that combines Hebrew, Dutch, Portuguese, Spanish and Chinese. For the workshop, Ernesto will present the project in an improvised lecture in English.
»The Mackenzie Method«
This hands-on workshop will provide participants with the knowledge of the mechanics involved in producing a documentary film. Through a five-step process, the participants will learn the basics of filmmaking and learn how to find the cinematic equivalent for their ideas, for the stories they like, or for topics with which they are concerned. Their individual interests and their own unique conceptual approach will be developped in 15 minutes.
»Hiam: Dark Room Chronicles«
The audience is invited to visit an editing room and to take a glimpse into the development of the documentary »Hiam« by filmmaker Juna Suleiman. The guests will have the opportunity to see unedited material (footage) and will be able to select different scenes of the film from a box with notes. The scenes will then be screened randomly. The filmmaker will take the observer’s role and will be available for questions and conversations.

»MEAT AND HEAT – PUBLIC SAUNA THINK-AND-BUILD-TANK«
The architect duo umschichten tries to look into the question how emotions and architecture can be aligned. It is an effort of self-analysis including a mixture of great theses, half-truths, cheerful self-deception and hope.
