P(r)ossession Pedagogies is an invitation to engage with the history of colonial relations between Namibia and Germany, while also introducing new artistic approaches that reflect on these histories. The three-day event, which is curated by the Namibian historian and artist Memory Biwa, marks the culmination of a journey to sites of remembrance that commenced in Namibia in July 2023 and now concludes in Stuttgart.

In collaboration with artists who participated in the residency program bridging Namibia and Germany, a collaborative initiative between Akademie Schloss Solitude, Goethe-Institut Namibia and the National Art Gallery of Namibia, we aim to contemplate the pivotal role that contemporary art can play in acknowledging and redressing colonial legacies, and shaping a future founded on solidarity.

With: Gifty Amoateng, Memory Biwa, Farina Görmar, Chantal Magano Kambrude, Miriam Chebaibai Koch, Hage Nasheotwalwa Mukwendje, Vitjitua Ndjiharine, Faisal Osman, Yara Richter, Keith Bernard Stonum, Banu Çiçek Tülü und Keith Vries
